From Struggle to Partnership

As the New Year rolls in, many of us are setting intentions for the coming year to support us in moving forward in alignment with a life we love to live! It’s the perfect time to consider how we can better align our mind, body, and spirit for a happier, freer existence. While emotional health often takes center stage in conversations about well-being, our physical health is an equally important piece of the puzzle, one that directly impacts how we feel, think, and show up in the world.

The Body’s Incredible Intelligence

Our body is a miracle in itself. It is designed with incredible intelligence, capable of healing and regenerating when given the proper support. Have you ever cut your finger and noticed how, over time, it heals without you doing anything? Or when you experience a cold and your body works tirelessly to rid itself of the virus? Our bodies have an innate ability to repair, rebuild, and maintain itself. However, this doesn’t happen on its own; it requires the right conditions to flourish.

Just like we nourish our emotional health by recognizing, expressing, and processing our emotions, we must give our physical body the tools it needs to perform its healing work. This includes providing the right nutrients, supporting a balanced lifestyle, and making sure we are treating our body with love and respect.

The Mind-Body Connection: Why It Matters

We are a physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual being, and all parts of us work together to create our lives. It’s no secret that stress, anxiety, and negative emotions can directly affect our physical health. When we’re feeling overwhelmed or stuck emotionally, our body can mirror these feelings. We may experience physical symptoms, such as headaches, muscle tension, digestive issues, or even chronic pain. This is where emotional health plays a key role in maintaining our overall wellness.

On the flip side, when we support our body with proper nutrition, exercise, and relaxation, we create the conditions for emotional balance. Our body’s energy levels, sleep patterns, and overall physical health are deeply tied to our emotional state. This is why taking a holistic approach—looking at both emotional and physical health—is so powerful.

My Personal Journey

I’ve been on my own journey to find holistic solutions for my changing body. As I got older, many changes, like weight gain, were relegated, especially by my doctor, to the stresses of life and changing hormones. Understanding the mind-body connection, I was actively seeking ways to support myself, but I didn’t feel successful in my efforts. Admittedly, I was experiencing more stress and destabilizing of my familiar foundations than I had ever experienced before. I know my body is a great gift from my Heavenly Father, entrusted to me for my mortal experience. However, there was a time when I felt like my body, instead of being my partner in navigating life’s ups and downs, had become my enemy.

I tried countless eating styles and “diets” in the past, and while I could force the weight off my body, it always seemed to return as soon as I stopped applying that “force.” There were so many conflicting opinions about how I should eat, and the frustration was mounting. I was exhausted by the endless cycle and ready to be done with it. Deep down, I knew there had to be a better way to work with my body, to honor its natural intelligence, and trust that it was doing exactly what it was designed to do—perfectly.

The Shift in Perspective

I realized that if I wasn’t happy with my results, I needed to look at the underlying systems at play. As I prayed for guidance, the first answer I received was eye-opening: it wasn’t so much about what I ate, but about what I believed about what I ate. I learned that food itself isn’t inherently good or bad; it’s simply energy. The beliefs I held about food were playing a significant role in my experience. I felt impressed to stop obsessing over what I ate and, instead, approach food with gratitude and praise to God, no matter what I chose to eat. This was a powerful shift for me, allowing me to let go of stress around food and find more harmony and rhythm in how I nourished my body. However, despite this newfound peace, the weight kept creeping on. While I was grateful for the insight, I still felt like there was more I needed to discover.

Discovery

At a women’s retreat, where I was staffing, I noticed that one of my friends had lost a significant amount of weight. Curious, I asked her about it, and she shared her experience with using the Wegovy shot for weight loss. I thought, “Maybe this is the next best step for me.” I returned home feeling determined, but as I dug deeper into my research, I felt awful. This wasn’t the kind of partnership I wanted with my body, nor did I want to impose something like that on myself, especially given the many unwanted and potentially life-altering side effects. However, the experience opened a door to learning more about my body’s systems, specifically insulin resistance, which might be at play for me.

This is when I discovered a system called The Feel Great System, and I finally found a true partner in supporting my body to do what it is naturally designed to do. My body and I are finally working together in harmony.

One of many positive side effects I’ve experienced is that the weight is slowly falling away, naturally. I am sleeping soundly and waking up before my alarm, feeling refreshed and ready for the day, which has never happened! I’ve learned about insulin resistance and am creating a healing environment for my body so I don’t need to stay there. These are only a few of the many benefits so far. It’s been a beautiful and empowering experience.

New Experiences

I’ve always disliked running. Growing up with asthma, I developed a fear of it. While it doesn’t affect me much anymore, I still feel a tightening in my lungs when I run, and the panic from my childhood tends to resurface. I can meet it with adult understanding, but it’s not pleasant, so I’ve avoided it. But when my son came home for Thanksgiving break, I was inspired by his five-mile runs. Though it seemed beyond my capabilities, we decided to do a short walk-run together, and I actually enjoyed it! Since then, I’ve been running a little more each week, pushing myself further, and I’m finding joy in it (nowhere close to 5 miles, but it’s a start!). My body and I are working together, and it’s been exciting to experience.

I know that when we nourish our spirits, support our emotions, listen to and learn from them, take conscious accountability for our thoughts, and care for our bodies, we create greater harmony and rhythm in our lives. This is the path to living a life that is more whole, happy, and free.

The Feel Great System has been a powerful partner in my own journey, helping me align my body with its natural intelligence to heal and thrive. If you’re ready to experience this alignment for yourself, I invite you to explore The Feel Great System and see how it can support you, too. Visit our new landing page on the website to learn more!
